High throughput screening detection technique of organic pollutants in milk and dairy products

Using a combination of gas chromatography / tandem mass spectrometry and ultra performance liquid chromatography / high resolution TOF tandem mass spectrometry, the samples were accurately analyzed in full scan mode. We established a high-throughput, high sensitivity, rapid screening platform of veterinary drug residues, environmental contaminants and other organic pollutants for milk and dairy products. Moreover, we built a database of these chemicals consisting of retention time, accurate molecular and fragment information. For unknown suspect additives, they were accurately identified using accurate molecular weight and MS/MS spectrum. The developed platforms was applied for the high throughput screening and semi-quantitative analysis of milk, milk powder, cheese, chocolate, ice cream and others in local supermarkets. This project provides comprehensive, accurate and convenient method for the detection of organic pollutants in milk and dairy products. It further provides an effective screening technique to emergent public environmental and food safety events in Xiamen City.
