Aerosol plays an important role in the transformation and transportation of speciated mercuryin atmosphere, and the deposition ofspeciated mercuryisthe main approach to the process of biogeochemical cycle. However, the impact mechanism of aerosol on the distribution of speciated mercury was poorly known. Atmospheric mercury pollution in China now becomes more and more serious; the project intends to choose the typical site located in the interface of sea and continent and its corresponding background site in Southeastern China as observation stations. Through the combined research methods of field observation, laboratory experiment, tracer of stable isotopes and models simulation, this study are (1) to demonstrate the dynamic distribution characteristics of atmospheric mercury species and aerosol in coastal area; (2) to elucidate the impact mechanism of aerosolon the distribution characteristics of the speciated mercury in coastal atmosphere in local area; (3) to assess the effectsof aerosol in coastal areaon the characteristics of the regional transformation and transportation of atmospheric mercury using the improved model of CMAQ-Hg, and understand the heterogeneous chemical processes in the interface of sea and continent between aerosol and atmospheric mercury in coastal area. The sepotential research findings might provide scientific evidences for enriching the theory on the process of mercury biogeochemistry, and basic data for the researches on the multinational transportation of atmospheric mercury and strategy of mercury pollution control.
