The project takes Xiamen City as a typical study area; it will study urban coastal vulnerability in the context of environmental changes by applying the means of RS and GIS to analyze the history, status and trend of Xiamen coastal space (land and sea area) use. Based on ecosystem services, the vulnerability of Xiamen ecosystem and industrial sections to the changes of coastal space use will be probed from three dimensions of exposure extent, sensitivity and adaptive capacity, in order to put forward the effective countermeasures of mitigation and adaptation. Through this project, it will provide further insights into the mechanisms of interactions between environmental changes and urban coastal vulnerability. In the same time, it is the precondition of integrated urban coastal management and economic development. The results of the project can offer the scientific foundation for elusion from the risk of environmental changes, as well as emphasize an important practical significance for the ecological conservation and environmental risk management in coastal area.
