Project Title: Fractionation of dissolved organic matter in drinking water and its relationships to typical pollution sources
Project Type: The National Natural Science Foundation of China
Project Approval No. 20807033
Project Awardee: Wei Qunshan Project Abstract: The rapid urbanization development in China doubly affects the source water quantity and quality, and gives high pressure on the safe water supply from drinking water plants because of increasing potential pollution in urbanization process. It's key to develope and enhance water quality pre-warning system to meet the requirement of safer water supply currently. The first aim of this project is to reveal the correlations between the fractional characters of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and the discharge changes of typical pollution sources, then provide research and science basis for establishing advanced water quality pre-waring system. The initial fractional characters, deep fractional characters and the molecular compositions of DOM will be investigated gradually in this project, then the relationships between these characters of DOM and the temporal or spatial discharge changes of pollution sources will also be studied in further. The second aim of this project is to find and establish a kind of identification system with high and rapid sensitivity to the discharge changes of pollution sources.
