The objective of this study is to characterize the distribution and sources of macromolecule organic matter in PM10. A comprehensive chemical procedure is established to fractionate and quantitative isolation of macromolecules organic matter in inhalable particulates (PM10) and get three fractions. Based on theory and technology of geoscience, isotopic and microscopic morphology, distribution characterization, sources and relative contributive ratios for different sources would be analysis and discuss. In addition, molecule traces, which ate good significance to explain sources and formative process of macromolecules, have been identified through pyrolysis products of macromolecule organic matters. This study provides valuable data which may help us to better understand the distributive characterization and sources of organic macromolecules present in PM10. Even more, the research results offer the theoretical and scientific basis to understand the regional aerosol and carbon cycle, distribution, transformation and fate of the organic pollutants, and further to know atmospheric particles environmental behavior and health effects.
