Integrated Study of Denitrification of Landfill Leachate and In-situ Removal of Odor Chemicals in Landfill Site
Update time: 2008-01-09 AUTHOR:

The major defect of landfill management is the environmental pollution of landfill leachate and odor air. At present, the main difficulties of landfill leachate treatment and odor air control are both the expensive cost. In this study, they are studied in an integrated system, in which the nitrified leachate is recirculated to the landfill bioreactor to remove volatile organic acid by heterotrophic denitrification and sulfide hydrogen by autotrophic denitrification. The integration of heterotrophic and autotrophic denitrification by this means can remove nitrogen in low cost and reduce odor chemicals in-situ. The development and affecting factors of the microbial community of heterotrophic and autotrophic denitrification bacteria will be studied in order to investigate the method of enrich thiobacillus denitrificans. The effects of substrate concentration and environmental factors on the rates of heterotrophic and autotrophic denitrifications will be studied to establish the dynamics model of mixotrophic denitrification. And the coordination mechanism of heterotrophic and autotrophic denitrification to remove odor chemicals and its optimization will be explored.
