Sino-Europe Workshop of Urban Landscape Research(Landscape and Environment Planning Workshop in Sino-German Year of Sciences and Education 2009/10)
Rapid urbanization exerts significant stress on natural ecosystems regionally and has become one of the major drivers of global climate changes. At the same time, urban spatial sprawl and expansion of urban civilization impact greatly on the regional biodiversity and cultural diversity, which has attract more and more attentions from ecologist, sociologist, economist and urban planners. Urban landscape research uses a broad perspective to study urbanization and its interaction with natural ecosystem and human society. It is believed possess of the big potential to provide new theories and methods for urban sustainable development. 

Responding to German-Sino Year of Sciences and Education 2009/10, Sino-Europe Workshop of Urban Landscape Research——Landscape and Environment Planning Workshop supported by Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Natural Science Foundation of China and German Federal Ministry of Education and Research will be held in Xiamen in 2010. The workshop will be concerned with the multi-disciplinary understandings on and the conceptual, scientific, design approaches to urban land use. The further cooperation between China and Europe countries is also discussed and pursued during the workshop.

40 overseas and native researchers will be invited for exchanges in urban landscape research, 15 of them comes from Europe.

English asofficial language is used to Academic exchange with the given themes. The further arrangement and the expert/speaker list will be informed in the second round notice.

7.Themes
The report PPT should be provided before 30 March, 2010, and will be printed for the participant. The topics might include but are not limited to:

Session 1: Landscape Ecology and Urbanization

-- Dynamic mechanism of urban landscape evolutions during urbanization

-- Ecological functions of urban landscape during urbanization

-- Eco-stress effects of urban landscape changes

Session 2: Urban Landscape and culture

-- The modes of landscape beauty and aesthetics in diversification of culture

-- Non-ecological functions of urban landscape during urbanization

-- Human habitats and Cultural landscape preservation

Session 3: Urban Landscape planning

-- Landscape as resource for a sustainable development

-- Landscape as object of resource management

-- Landscape assessment in urban planning

8.fees
The Organizer will support accommodation, meal and study tour for participants.

9.Production
(1) The related academic exchanges and discusses to promote the understanding of urban landscape;
(2) The further cooperation plans and specific actions
