Professor Max Haggblom of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey visited IUE.

    Invited by Key Laboratory of Urban Environment and Health,Professor Max Haggblom of Rutgers,The State University of New Jersey visited IUE on February 18th-23rd and made an academic report titled "Cool Microbes: Elucidating the activities of tundra soil microbial communities".The report was hosted by the deputy director of Key Laboratory,Researcher Yu Shen. 

    In the report, Professor Max Haggblom expounded the activity of microbial communities and its role playing in the process of C and N metabolism in arctic tundra soil under the background of global climate change.He analysed the reaction and influence to tundra soil of different microbial groups at different temperatures and communicated with the research personnel. 

    Introduction of the expert:  

    Professor Max Haggblom obtained his doctoral degree of General Microbiology in University of Helsinki,Finland,in 1989.Now,he works as the director of Biochemistry and microbiology Department in Rutgers,The State University of New Jersey,USA.He has engaged in research work of microbial ecology,environmental biotechnology and microbial cell culture,the performance analysis for long term.He is undertaking and has done more than 30 projects including National Science Foundation,United States,US Environmental Protection Agency Project.He has published nearly 200 papers in journals such as Appl.Environ.Microb.Appl.Microbiol.Biot.Microb.Ecol.Environ.Sci Technol.Int.J. System.Evol.Microbiol,etc. He is a well-known scholar in the field of environmental microbiology.
