Sino-French Workshop on Urban Environment & Sustainable Development was held in IUE from October 4th to 8th, 2009. Sponsored by the Bureau of Science and Technology of Resource and Environment CAS and the Bureau of International Co-operation CAS, the workshop was hosted by IUE.

The French delegation has 19 members, mainly from French National Science Research Center. Chinese participants are composed of CAS institutes and relevant domestic universities.　 Prof. Weiming FAN, chief of the Bureau of Science and Technology of Resource and Environment CAS and Luc Abbadie, the vice-director of French National research center of Ecology and Environment signed a memo about the co-operation in ecology and environment between the two countries. Experts involved made deep discussions on urban environment, urban metabolism, future cities, laying a solid foundation of future joint research in science research. It’s also decided to apply projects in urban metabolism, urban biodiversity and landscape planning, and to develop substantial cooperation.
