The third Strait Urban Environment Summit Forum and Xiamen International Environmental Protection Industry Innovation Technology Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as Strait Environment Forum) was held successfully during November 18-19, 2022. The Strait Environment Forum was co-organized by the Institute of Urban Environment (IUE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), All-China Environment Federation and Fuzhou University and was fully supported by Xiamen Ecology and Environment Bureau, Xiamen Urban Utilities and Landscape Bureau, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Xiamen Committee, Xiamen Municipal Construction Group and other organizations.
The opening ceremony was moderated by Prof. CHEN Shaohua , the Party Secretary and Deputy Director of IUE, CAS. Mr. ZHUANG Rongliang, the Vice Mayor of Xiamen wished the Strait Environment Forum a success. He hoped it would connect government, industry, education and research across the Taiwan Straits, so as to promote innovation in ecological and environmental technology and its transformation and to strengthen the implementation of high-end achievements in relevant industry. Mr. XU Wei , the Deputy Director of Fujian Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, Prof. ZHU Yongguan , the Academician of CAS, Prof. WANG Xinchen , the Vice President of Fuzhou University gave welcome speeches. Dr. LIN Shenglun , an associate professor and special researcher of Beijing Institute of Technology spoke as the youth representative of Taiwan, China. Finally, Mr. ZHUANG Rongliang , Mr. XU Wei , Prof. ZHU Yongguan , Prof. HE Hong and other guests opened the forum jointly.
Under the topic of “Green Development and Low Carbon Economy”, the Strait Environment Forum focused on the innovation and development of environmental protection industry and held one plenary session and 17 parallel sessions, including the fields of urban pollution control (water, ozone, soil, etc.), atmosphere observation and modelling, carbon neutral methods, urban waste energy resources, smart urban management, etc. and held Cross-Strait Young Scholars Urban Environmental Workshop. During the plenary session, Academician Jiming Hao of CAE, Academician ZHU Yongguan of CAS, Academician Xiang Gao of CAE, Academician Jinnan Wang of CAE, Academicn Hong He of CAE, Prof. CHIANG Pen-Chi of National Taiwan University, Prof. DAI Xiaohu of Tongji University, Technical Director An Pinglin of China Everbright Water Limited, Director CHEN Huibin of Zhongke Wanlang Biology Technology Limited delivered keynote speeches.
According to environmental industry upgrading under the background of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality and the guidelines of sustainable development, the Strait Environment Forum established a communication platform combing academic exchanges, technology transformation and business expansion through forums and exhibitions. It provided advanced solutions for pollution control and sustainable environmental development with the concepts of green and low-carbon, promoted cross-strait environmental technology innovation and high-quality economic development.
Xiamen International Environmental Protection Industry Innovation Technology Exhibition, held at the same time, brought together more than 40 environmental protection enterprises, universities and institutes, covering the fields of air, water, solid waste, sanitation, soil, noise, etc., in order to showcase the latest technologies and products. Considering the development trend of environmental protection industry in China, the exhibition combined emerging technologies and application scenarios. It could effectively promote the synergistic development of the industry with biotechnology, new energy, new materials, big data and artificial intelligence and accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the environmental protection industry.
