On the afternoon of April 28, the signing ceremony of the "Environmental Science and Engineering Science and Technology Elite Student Class" co-established by the Institute of Urban Environment (IUE) and the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was held in Room 302 of USTC Applied Chemistry Building. It was attended by two researchers, Feng Zhao & Li Cui, Yuming Zheng, Deputy Director of the IUE, Tangrong Wang, Director of Education Office, Changgan Zeng, Director of Undergraduate Education Office of USTC, Hongchao Zhu, Deputy Director of External Liaison and Fund Affairs Office, Hanqing Yu, Executive Director of Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, Wenzhen Zhang, general Party branch secretary of the department, Zhouqing Xie and Yang Mu, deputy deans of the department, and all students of the elite class. The signing ceremony was presided over by Zhouqing Xie.

Hanqing Yu first gave a welcome speech. He reviewed the good foundation of cooperation between the USTC and IUE, and introduced the cooperation plan of the elite class. He hoped to make full use of the intellectual resources and scientific and technological resources of both parties to strengthen the overall cooperation, promote joint education, and jointly cultivate high-quality innovative talents. At the ceremony, Yuming Zheng and Changgan Zeng, on behalf of IUE and the USTC respectively, signed the agreement.

After the signing ceremony, the award ceremony of "Urban Environment Elite Freshmen Scholarship" was held. After Wenzhen Zhang announced the notice of award, Yuming Zheng, Changgan Zeng, and Hongchao Zhu presented awards to the students who got scholarship.

Zhao Feng, Li Cui and Yuming Zheng, as the representatives of supervisors of IUE, gave advanced academic lectures to students of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, the interaction on the spot being lively.

With the goal to achieve collaborative innovation proposed by the Party Central Committee, the “Environmental Science and Engineering Science and Technology Elite Student Class” serves as an important way to achieve resource sharing and open development for both sides. Through carrying forward both sides’ fine tradition of education, advancing cooperative education, we will further explore the training mode of top-notch innovative talents in the field of our strong disciplines.
