On June 4th, the mid-term exchange meeting was held from 9-12 a.m. in Room 205 of the complex building of IUE, which was themed with MOST Key Program "Research on the Effect of Emerging Pollutants on the Offshore Environment Based on Omics Technology". Held both online and offline, the meeting was hosted by the project leader, Professor Dong, and attended by Zhang Zilian, Senior Engineer from Xiamen University, Dr. Jun Kikuchi, Mr. Kenji Sakata, Mr. Teppei Fujimura and Mr. Shoya Kitayama from Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN), researchers including Yan Changzhou, Sun Qian, Huang Qiansheng, and other project team members from the Institute of Urban Environment (IUE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
The project leader, Professor Dong, summarized the progress made in the early stage of the project. Huang Qiansheng, Sun Qian, Zhang Zilian, Dr. Jun Kikuchi and other project team members respectively gave presentations on key factors of pollutant toxicity in estuaries and coastal areas, the impact of emerging pollutants on ocean carbon storage, and the application of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology in the degradation of microplastics and compound adsorption. In addition, the project team members discussed about the next phase of the project and further cooperation, and formulated the following plan.
