On January 8, the Institute of Urban Environment (IUE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, the team of Academician ZHU Yong-guan and the people's Government of Xiuzhou District of Jiaxing City held a signing ceremony for the joint construction of "the International Institute of Environmental Technology" (IIET) in Jiaxing. Academician ZHU Yong-guan, academic director of IUE, Prof. ZHENG Yuming, deputy director of IUE, Mr. CHEN Weimin, director of cooperation and development department of IUE, Mr. LIU Dewei, head of Xiuzhou District, Mr. ZHU Jin, president of Jiaxing Association for Science and Technology, Mr. MA Jiliang, deputy director of Jiaxing Bureau of Ecological Environment, Mr. YU Renyi, deputy director of Xiuzhou District and other heads of relevant scientific research teams of IUE, leaders of relevant departments of Xiuzhou district and representatives of environmental protection enterprises attended the signing ceremony.

Mr. YU Renyi, deputy director of Xiuzhou District, Prof. ZHENG Yuming, deputy director of IUE, and academician ZHU Yong-guan signed the agreement on behalf of the three parties. IIET will build a world-influential and national- forefront R&D institution of environmental technology, environmental protection materials and equipment and biotechnology. It aims to develop energy conservation and environmental protection industry and focuses on breaking through the industrial commonness and key technologies. With gathering top talent teams in related fields at home and abroad, basing on the Yangtze River Delta and radiating the whole country, IIET will carry out industrial technology application research and development and integrate innovation globally. It will promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, incubate scientific and technological enterprises, as well as improve the industrial and ecological chain. Further, it is beneficial to promote Jiaxing City to become an important area gathering relevant high-end talents and emerging enterprises, so as to provide strong support for the development of energy conservation and environmental protection industry.
