Invited by CAS Center for Excellence in Regional Atmospheric Environment and Zheng Yuming's Research Group, Professor Thomas H. Kuehn from University of Minnesota visited IUE during June 23-27th, 2018. In the morning of June 27th, Professor Kuehn gave an academic presentation titled “PM2.5 Emissions from Cooking”. Firstly, Professor Kuehn systematically compared the development status of the catering industry in China and abroad and the particle (Soot) pollution emissions generated by using different fuels and kitchen utensils in different regions. Then he introduced the removal effect of the fresh air system in both laboratory test systems and commercial kitchen equipment on different components and particle sizes. Finally, the future research trends of PM2.5 pollution control for cooking emissions was prospected. Professor Kuehn had an animated and in-depth exchange and discussion with the audience after the presentation.
During this visit, Professor Kuehn also visited the Air Monitoring Supersite and related laboratories of research groups working on air pollution control in IUE, and had in-depth exchanges with researchers.
