Invited by Key Laboratory of Urban Pollutant Conversion, CAS, Professor ZHU Dongqiang from Beijing University visited Institue of Urban Environment for Academic Communication on January 18th and made an academic report titled “The Structure, Photochemical Activity and Environmental Effect of Dissolved Black Carbon”.
In the report, Professor ZHU firstly introduced research background of dissolved balck carbon and emphasised that it was of significant environmental and geochemical effect. Then he intoduced in detail structure, characterization, photochemical activity and effect of dissolved black carbon. After the report, Proffesor ZHU had further communication and dissucussion with teachers and students at the spot. The atmosphere there was high and warm.
ZHU Dongqiang is a doctor, a tenured full professor and a doctoral supervisor of College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Beijing University , Distinguished Professor in Chang Jiang Scholars Program and owner of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is mainly engaged in research for chemical behavior of pollutants interface and mechanism of microcosmic function, environmental effect and application of nanomaterial, earth surface process and environmental influence of natural organic matter. He obtained his doctoral degree in Texas A&M University, USA in 2001. From 2002 to 2005, He firstly went to Connecticut Agricultural Institute and then to Purdue University for post-doctoral research. From 2005 to 2015, He had been a professor of Nanjing University. He has hosted The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Project supported by the State Key Program of National Natural Science of China, 973 Program and Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University. Since 2003, he has published more than 80 papers in influential SCI journals in environmental science field. His ESI enters into top 0.1% of the environmental ecology field. He has won second prize of National Natural Science Awards for one time (fifth executer) and first prize of Ministry of Education of Natural Science Awards for two times (first executer, third executer). He holds the post of associate editor of J Environ Qual and editorial board member of Environ Sci Technol Letters、Environ Toxicol Chem.
