On August 9th, invited by IUE and Shenghui Cui’s research group, associate Professor of the global food and resource center, University of Adelaide, Australia, Patrick James O’Connor vistited IUE, CAS and made a report titled “Conservation auctions: Creating missing markets for ecosystem services”. The report was hosted by researcher Shenghui Cui.
In an hour’s report, associate Professor Patrick took market failure, ecosystem service values protection as opening words, put forward four kinds of strategy selection, information, public supply, regulation, incentives measures based on market, analysed the timing of using conservation auction, explained five key elements of Auction bidding design, calculated the monetary value biodiversity increasing, explains the process of building market, demonstrated the achievement of conservation auction of BushBids project bidding and finally looked for the furture related research about conservation auction. The scientific research personnel attending the report showed great interesting in the lecture and put forward dozens of questions during the report. And associate Professor Patrick answered them one by one in detail.

Associate Professor Patrick O’Connor teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including Land Information System, Soil Management and Protection, the Sustainable Development of Environment, GIS Senior Application, Science and Eechnology Thesis Writing, and guided several master's, doctoral students. He has published more than 10 scientific research papers in international journals in this field and provided 67 consulting reports to the Australian government, and has been responsible for more than 100 monitoring, planning, research and evaluation projects. He devotes hiself to training and research of environmental science essay writing and has published related writing Writing Scientific Research Articles: Strategy and Steps on Wiley Blackwell. At the same time, he has deeply researched in Chinese environmental science worker’ academic paper writing.
