Professor Anthony G. Capon, Director of the UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH), Professor Jose A. Puppim de Oliveira, Assistant Director of UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) and Professor Christopher Doll, also from UNU-IAS visited IUE from May 26th to 27th. A seminar was held on May 27th focusing on climate co-benefits in urban areas. The seminar was chaired by Professor Yong-Guan Zhu, Director of IUE.
Professor Jose emphasized that in the future the global environment will be intrinsically linked to the development of cities and urbanization is a key factor to determine current and future environmental quality. Professor Christopher presented some research results from UNU-IAS on how to identify and generate co-benefits of large-scale cities and the tools they developed to assess climate co-benefits. The seminar was then followed by a discussion between the three Professors and the audiences.
