IUE 8th Strategic Planning Meeting was held from March 29 to 30 at the Ningbo Urban Environment Observation and Research Station (NUEORS), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). IUE’s
leadership, principal investigators and heads of administration departments attended and discussed the progress of IUE “1-3-5” work plan, the application of the S&T grant and the collaboration with local institutions. Director General Yongguan Zhu, Party Deputy Secretary Peng Cai and Deputy Director Shaohua Chen chaired the meeting.
Director General Yongguan Zhu made a keynote speech on how to accelerate the implementation of the “1-3-5” plan. He mainly introduced the achievements made in 2013 and pointed out that the upcoming work priority is the training of young talent, the research of key scientific instruments, the development of CAS key lab and the construction of a field work platform. The development of IUE now is in a very critical stage and all staff should work diligently to improve its reputation and influence on the internationally urban environmental research.
Afterwards, a round-table discussion was held and suggestions on the selection of research directions, the management of research groups and the development of NUEORS were presented.
