Wayne Ives, Deputy Head of the British Consulate-General in Guangzhou visited Institute of Urban Environment (IUE) on 5 June, 2009. Mr Ives and project officer Kenmi Deng from Climate Change & Energy Section of British Consulate which was formed last August showed their main tasks were to promote climate change project in southern China. Deputy Director of IUE, Yong-guan Zhu gave a brief introduction of the institute and exchanged his opinion for the promotion of low-carbon economy strategy project funds in British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). Dr Run Wang from research group for mitigation and adaptation of climate change and Prof Graeme Paton & Dr Paul Williams from China-UK Joint Institute of Environmental Technology Transfer also joined the discussion. Mr Ives said UK governmental funding project application can be carried out to tailor the actual situation in Xiamen. Xi’ai Yang from Xiamen Environmental Protection Bureau and Chaochao Cai from Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen Municipal Government also attended the meeting.
