On 9-12 July 2007 the China-EU Membrane Application Technology Seminar & Cooperation Fair, co-sponsored by the National Science and Technology Ministry, Science and Technology Office of Shandong Province, Weihai’s municipal government, the European Membrane Technology Union and the Italian Academy of Sciences, was held at the international academic centre of Shandong University in Weihai, Shandong Province. The conference aimed to promote technical cooperation and exchanges in the field of membrane technology application between the European Union and China"s research institutions and business circles, and to construct a bridge and link for the two sides to carry out bilateral or multilateral substantive technical cooperation.

12 membrane technology experts of the European Union and representatives of relevant research institutions were present at the conference, such as Professor Tuooufu Leikenishi, Chairman of the European Membrane Technology Union, Professor Enruike Deliaoli, Vice President of the Italian Academy of Sciences, Professor Li Kang of the British Empire Polytechnic University, Yao Weike, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Division of the National Science and Technology Ministry, Xu Maobo, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Office of Shandong Province, and Academician Gao Congjie of Ocean University of China. More than 80 domestic enterprises of membrane technology application and famous membrane technology research institutions, totalling 150 representatives, attended the conference. Dr. Zhang Kaisong of our institute was invited to participate in this conference.
