On 11 March 2008, CAS Vice President Bai Chunli met with Fujian Governor Huang Xiaojing,  Vice Governor Zhang Changping and other government leaders in CAS. Both sides communicated deeply to further cooperation.

First, Vice President Bai Chunli made a comprehensive review of progress and results about cooperation with region, and put forward proposals for further steps in the future. Bai Chunli pointed out CAS should further meet the needs of economic and social development, deepen areas of  cooperation, highlight the key points, and pay attention to the results of cooperation.

Huang Xiaojing appreciated CAS for its support in science and technology to promote regional economic development in the past few years, especially in building IUE and FJRSM (Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter), holding the China Cross-straits Technology and Projects Fair in Fujian, etc, which have played an important role on economic development in Fujian. In accordance with the demands of Fujian Province, the two sides will actively carry out the preparatory work for signing a new cooperation agreement.
