"S&T research should be upgraded through scientific thinking and S&T development promoted via scientific innovation," urges CAS President LU Yongxiang during his recent trip to Gansu Province.

　　  From 7 to 11 August, Prof. Lu, who is also vice chairman of the Standing Committee of Chinese People"s Congress, which is China"s top legislator, met with senior officials and visited a number of research institutes and enterprises in the northwest China"s province. He also held discussions with experts on issues concerning innovation capacity and technology transfer.
