At the invitation of UK research institutions, a delegation led by CAS Executive Vice President BAI Chunli paid a visit to UK recently.
On January 15, Prof. Bai visited the London-headquartered Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), of which he is a vice president. According to the newly introduced appointment system of patrons, Prof. Bai will be one of the five patrons of the Society in July when his term is over. Patrons, who are chosen from leaders and influencers in their fields, will be expected to help the Society by lending their name to it or occasionally sponsoring or helping an activity.
During his stay on January 16 to 17, Prof. Bai gave a talk entitled "nano-structures on the surface of organic molecules" at the Queen Mary University of London, and made a presentation on the developments of nanotechnology in China at a forum under the auspices of DEMOS, a London-based think thank, successively. He also met with Prof. Martin Rees, president of the Royal Society in London. |
