On May 22nd, the Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, successfully held the 2021 Public Science Day. Under the theme of "Along the 100-Year Road to Rejuvenation, Science is at the Right Time" which was closely linked to the centenary of the founding of CPC, the event showcased the charm of science to the public through various forms. It included a visit to the exhibition hall of the institute, an introduction to the Landscape Ecological Park, a detailed introduction of the Internet of Things and environmental monitoring systems as well as the atmospheric station, and two special science lectures. Combined with field visits and popular science lectures, the event was arranged in an orderly manner with rich activities.

There were active online registrations for this Public Science Day. The freshmen of Huaqiao University and the fifth-grade students of Xiamen Huming Primary School and their parents were finally invited to participate.

The event demonstrated the institute’s achievements in scientific and technological innovation, promoted the spirit of science, created an atmosphere favoring science, fostered scientific culture, and stimulated the attention and interest of the public, especially the young, in science. Those who participated in the Public Science Day all said that it provided an opportunity for everyone to get close to science and scientific research, which is of great significance. The event delivered good results.
