On April 27-29, the Key Laboratory of Urban Environment and Health of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as " Laboratory") held the 2020 Academic Committee Meeting at Ningbo Academician Center. Chaired by Bojie Fu, director of the academic committee of Laboratory, it was attended by academicians including Shu Tao and Yongguan Zhu and other members of the academic committee, academician Jiabao Zhang and many other domestic experts in related fields. Researcher Jianqiang Su, director of the laboratory, welcomed all the experts on behalf of the laboratory and gave a report on the progress of Laboratory’s work in 2020. Researchers Huaiying Yao, Lina Tang, and Hang Xiao respectively reported the research progress of their research groups to the academic committee.

Experts of Laboratory’s academic committee offered comments on the reports, and recognized the laboratory’s scientific research achievements and progress that have been made in the past year. Additionally, the experts suggest that Laboratory should have a clear positioning to possess unique characteristics, strengthen connections between different research directions to improve systemicity, consolidate basic research with advantages, and strengthen research in engineering and technology. It is also advised that the laboratory should optimize personnel structure, focus on introducing talents with educational backgrounds of medical and public health to strengthen weak links in personnel structure, pay attention to the frontiers of disciplines and meet national needs, and grasp opportunities and meet challenges of applying for national key laboratories.
