On the afternoon of February 29th, invited by Researcher Zhao Jingzhu, Researcher Wen Zongguo of Tsinghua University visited IUE and made an academica report titled “Potential and path analysis of energy conservation and emission reduction in industry”.

In the report, Wen Zongguo introduced in detailed current situation of energy conservation and emission reduction in industry, and put forward the problems existing in energy conservation and emission reduction in industry in our country. To solve these problems, Wen Zongguo’s group has built datebase in the production process level which covers 11 industry of China, to evaluate potential and path analysis of energy conservation and emission reduction in industry. The research results have earned recognition of the relevant departments of the State Council and scholars at home and abroad, providing decision basis for the government’s formulating energy conservation and emissions reduction policy at the national level. On this basis, Wen’s group developed the software of “potential and path analysis of energy conservation and emission reduction in industry”. The software can be flexibly operated and its database can be updated regularly, improving the efficiency and accuracy to a great extent. In additon, Wen proposed that we need to differently formulate energy conversation and emission reduction policy according to actual situation of different industries. and he also listed the technology listing needed to be weed out and generlized., which has the vital enlightenment significance for formulating energy conversation and emisson reduction policy in our country.

After the report, Wen had an in-depth discussion with teachers and students attending the meeting. The content referred to the classification gist of the industry, the access of production craft data for 11 industries, calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from emerging industries including Web of Things, etc. Wen answered to the teachers’ and students’ question one by one. The atmosphere at the spot kept high and warm.

Wen Zongguo, is the researcher of College of the Environment of Tsinghua University, doctoral supervisor. He engages in the research of industry circular economy, energy conservation and emissions reduction technology policy and planning management. He has co-published 6 works, 93 academic papers (45 articles recorded in SCI), won 22 professional national computer software copyright. He has led more than 20 national projects such as 973 Program, The National Key Technology R&D Program, etc. He is the leading expert of The 3rd The National Climate Change Assessment Report. He has won the first prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award for 4 times, National Natural Science Foundation - Outstanding Youth Foundation in 2015, Ministry of Environmental Protection 11th Five-Year Environmental Protection Science and Technology Advanced Individuals,etc.
