Xiamen,China-The scientific committee of the programme on Health and Wellbeing in the Changing Urban Environment:a Systems Approach, held its 7th meeting at the Institute of Urban Environment(IUE),Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS),in Xiamen from 11 to 13 November, 2015. The programme is a ten-year international programme co-sponsored by the International Council for Science (ICSU),the InterAcademy Medical Panel (IAMP),and the United Nations University(UNU). The International Programme Office(IPO) of the programme is hosted by IUE,CAS since December 2014.

The scientific committee members and representatives the cosponsors attended the meeting,which is held twice a year to steer the implementation of the programme.This is the second meeting for the scientific committee in China since the launch of IPO.The meeting was opened by a welcome address from Director General of IUE,CAS,Professor Yongguan Zhu,followed by updates on new scientific committee membership and nominations by Dr.Lucilla Spini,head of science programmes at ICSU.Professor Indira Nath chaired the meeting and discussions during the two-day meeting.Dr. Franz Gatzweiler,the Executive Director of IPO,reported on progress made and activities of the IPO.The committee members reviewed the past activities and drafted an implementation plan for the programme.New science reports of the programme were discussed and prepared for publication in 2016.A series of workshops and conference was planned to be organized in the coming year.
