On the morning of August 2, 2012, Liu Ming, Head of Science & Innovation of British Consulate General Guangzhou, and Zhu Lily, Science & Innovation Officer of British Consulate General Shanghai, visited IUE and had deep discussions with Prof. Zhu Yongguan, Director General of IUE, on mutual co-operations.

Prof. Zhu introduced the current situation of collaboration between IUE and the UK, and hoped that IUE could get more opportunities and channels to co-operate with the UK through the help of the British Consulate General. Ms. Liu and Ms. Zhu said that “they will be very pleased to play a role in promoting bilateral co-operation which tend to be based on local demands and resources.” In the future, co-operation between IUE and the UK should be institutionalized, Ms. Liu added. Both parties agreed that the main fields to co-operate in will be Food Security, Marine Economy and Synthetic Biology, among others.

Prof. Yu Xin, Prof. Zhao Feng, Prof. Cui Shenghui, Prof. Yang Jun and Associate Prof. Lin Tao also joined today’s discussion.
