Associate Prof. Kang Shi and Dr Ian Broadwell from Department of Chemistry of Xiamen University conducted teachers and students interested in biological fuel cells and energy micro-devices from the Xiamen University-University of Southampton Joint Summer School to IUE on Aug. 7.

On behalf of IUE, Director general Yongguan Zhu delivered a welcome speech and introduced the general situation of IUE. He hoped that Xiamen University, University of Southampton and IUE would cooperate in the field of biological fuel cells in the future.

After the welcome ceremony, Prof. Xin Yu briefed the teachers and students on the simulating treatment devices of drinking water, sewage and solid waste and led them to visiting the wetland system for sewage treatment. Teachers and students from the summer school exchanged ideas with Prof. Yu about the concerning technologies. All the students said they benefited a lot from this visit.
