During July 26-28 2010, Prof. Mike Young, Executive Director of the University of Adelaide’s Environment Institute, visited IUE at the invitation of Yongguan Zhu, Director of IUE. Prof. Young negotiated with Director Zhu and other Principal Investigators about future cooperation between the two parties. Afterwards he gave a lecture entitled “Water Policy Opportunities and Challenges: Lessons from Australia and the Rest of the World”.

Prof. Young holds a Research Chair in Water Economics and Management at the University of Adelaide, is a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society. In 2009, he was named South Australian of the Year in the Environment Category. In 2006, he was awarded the Land and Water Australia Eureka Award for Water Research, and in 2003 he was awarded a Centenary Medal “for outstanding service through environmental economics”.
