"The International Workshop on Urban Wetland and Restoration" took place in Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences on Dec. 12-15, 2008. Over 50 scientists and graduate students from Argentina, Finland, Germany, Korea, Thailand, and USA, and from domestic universities and research institutions participated in the workshop. The presentations covered ecosystem service function, ecosystem restoration, surface water quality, hydrology, bio-diversity conservation, exotic species invasion, greenhouse gas emission, and contaminant biogeochemistry in urban wetland ecosystems. The workshop received financial supports from the Chinese Academy of Sciences "High-level Talents Project—Urban Wetland Ecology and Restoration", Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey "The Program for Faculty Clusters in Global and International Research", and Xiamen Bureau of Science and Technology.
