To improve the level of graduate education, the Institute of Urban Environment held a postgraduate work conference on 14 October 2007. Lv Xiaopeng, the vice president of the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huo Guifen，the director of the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Cai Shuxia, the Director of the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Lv Aiying, the director of the Institute of Zoology Chinese Academy of Sciences, were all invited to the conference.

Firstly, Zhao Jingzhu, the director of the Institute of Urban Environment expressed a warm welcome to every leader who attended the meeting. Meanwhile, he introduced the construction situation of the new Institute of Urban Environment, work experiences of Graduate student recruitment in the year of 2007 and graduate enrollment plans for 2008.　　　　

Vice president Lv Xiaopeng fully affirmed the accomplishments in the last year of the Institute of Urban Environment, and made a number of recommendations and requirements for Graduate Education Management of the new Institute, with particular emphasis that staffs who work on post-graduate management should strengthen the postgraduate training policy study, diligent thinking, and foster a sense of service. Director Huo Guifen made detailed briefings of Graduate information storage, and thesis defence and archiving. Director Cai Shuxia and Lv Aiying expatiated the issues of the training policy and degree-granting and made many valuable suggestions respectively.
