The expert assessment of National Natural Science Foundation, organized by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, was held in 2007. With whole attention of the leadership and elaborate preparation of all scientific researchers, four projects of the Institute of Urban Environment obtained funding from the National Natural Science Foundation.

The titles of the projects are:
1. Mechanism of adsorption / absorption of heavy metals by macrophytes and their physiological responses;
2. Comprehensive Evaluation Study of the vulnerability of urban coastal zones under environmental change;
3. Integrated studies of Nitrogen leachate and landfill in situ deodorant;
4. Study of the micro-process and control of the formation of membrane bioreactor membrane fouling.

The four projects were funded for a total of 920,000 yuan.
