On December 24, 2007, the pre-construction board of Institute of Urban Environment (IUE) held the 5th conference in Jinyan Hotel, Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. The IUE is co-established by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Xiamen municipal government. Vice President of CAS, Prof. Shi Erwei and Deputy Mayor of Xiamen municipal government, Mr. Ye Zhonggeng co-presided the conference. Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Cao Xiaoye also attended the conference. Officers from CAS (Bureau of Academy-Locality Cooperation and Institute of Architectural Designing), Xiamen municipal government (Commission of Development and Reform, Bureau of Personnel, Bureau of Finance, Bureau of Science and Technology, Bureau of Construction), and Xiamen Residential and Construction Group Co. and so on participated in the conference. The Pre-construction Board highly considered the report of “Progress of the pre-construction and work plan for the next stage”, presented by Director General of IUE, Prof. Zhao Jingzhu. The Board also satisfied the progress in construction and personnel recruitment.
