On December 24, 2007, Vice President of CAS, Prof. Erwei Shi, visited the Institute of Urban Environment (IUE). Following a visit to laboratories accompanied by the General Director of IUE, Prof. Jingzhu Zhao, Prof. Shi had an amiable colloquium with research and management cadres in the IUE. Prof. Shi noted that the next step of the IUE’s development should focus on further improvement in highly-qualified intellectual recruitment and grant application. The framework of disciplines in the Institute should fully represent a comprehensive integration in between resource-environmental research and high-tech development. Further, the Vice President Shi　 encouraged young scientists sticking to the IUE spirit of “LOYALTY & ENDEAVOR”, opening mind to be creative and competitive, and continuously obtaining innovative achievements.

The visit of Vice President Shi was accompanied by Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Xiaoye Cao, and officers from Bureau of Academy-Locality Cooperation, Institute of Architectural Design, and other units.
