Prof. Yiyu CHEN, President of National Natural Science Foundation of China visited IUE with his colleagues on 11 July, 2006. Prof. Jingzhu Zhao, Director of IUE, gave a friendly welcome and detailed introduction about IUE to the guests. The guests exchange ideas with some staff of IUE on modes of research and development cooperation with local government and institutes.

Prof. Chen hoped that IUE should pay more attention to the cutting-edge and original researches on the relationships among water, soil, air, biology and environment as well as energy saving and environmental protection. Prof. Chen also encouraged IUE to explore the individual and common problems of city and urban areas, to characterize the effect of human activities on surrounding as well as the effect of nature environment on human activities.
