On August 1-5, 2018, Prof. Yongguan ZHU, the party secretary of IUE were invited by the Director Prof. Ong Choon Nam of NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) and the Director Prof. Hu Jiangyong of Water Research Center, National University of Singapore to visit the NUS. During the visit, Prof. Yongguan ZHU representing IUE signed a memorandum of cooperation with NUS for promoting common development in research of the environment and strengthening the environment the influence on the world stage.

During the visit, researchers from two institutions made excellent reports and exchanges on their respective research fields. Through in-depth discussions, two parties together to work out the overall framework of the future cooperation and has been cleared about the recent key areas of cooperation. The discussion also focuses on the promotion of project cooperation in the field of environmental science and technology research, strengthening of academic exchanges, transferring and building the new city environment sustainable development research platform for comprehensive cooperation, and making sure the first Sino-Singapore Symposium on Sustainable Urban Environment Development will be held in Xiamen from November 3-6, this year.
