Prof. Stephen James Chapman from the James Hutton Research Institute arrived at IUE on March 27th, 2014, to begin his two-month cooperation with Prof. Yongguan Zhu, Director General of IUE. With over 35 years research experience on soil microbiology, Stephen has made a lot of great achievements published on international top journals, like Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment, Ecology, Global Change Biology, etc. The cooperative relationship between Stephen and IUE was established in 2008 and it is greatly enhanced after he was awarded Chinese Academy of Sciences Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists in 2013.  

Under the auspices of CAS, Stephen will join the research on nitrification and nitrifying microorganisms in strong acid soil, instruct postgraduates in experiments and give speeches to IUE research staff.
