    Date:May 21, 2009

On May 18, Ms. Fangxin, member of Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of CAS visited IUE. Zhao Jingzhu, Deputy Director of IUE, Zhu yongguan, and Caipeng, Deputy Directors of IUE showed her around the institute.  Director Zhao made a report on the development of IUE. Research officers had a heated discussion with Fang concerning the construction of the institute, scientific research, management and international cooperation and so on. To form a unique research feature and a key competition capacity, Fang is of the opinion that IUE should fully utilize the geographic advantages of lying on the west bank of the Straits. She spoke highly of the achievements of IUE with its arduous struggle and plain living. She gave the instruction that for further subject development, IUE should closely combine the expertise of research officers with national and local economic development need.

New mechanism is a necessity to introduce more experts and to encourage various means of part-time research and exchanges. Meanwhile, more attention should be paid to train potential capable candidates inside the institute. Finally, Fang emphasized that IUE could strengthen and promote its cultural construction.
