Research Cui Shenghui was invited to make a report in the seminar of “Developing Smart, healthy and Sustainable Cities”

    On January 11th to 12th, the seminar with the theme of “Developing Smart, healthy and Sustainable Cities: Learning from US, China, and India” was held in the capital of India, New Delhi successfully. Researcher Cui Shenghui of IUE, CAS was invited to make an academic report titled “Carbon Footprint Analysis of the BUS Rapid Transit (BRT) System: a Case Study of Xiamen City, China”. 

   The seminar was co-hosted by South branch of ICLEI—Local Governments for Sustainability, University of Minnesota, USA, Yale University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Tsinghua University, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Indian institute of technology, etc, and was undertaken by South branch of ICLEI—Local Governments for Sustainability and University of Minnesota. Executive director and chairman of South branch of ICLEI, Mr. Emani Kumar, Ms. Hansa Patel, Professor Anu Ramaswami of University of Minnesota and Ms. Kathryn Stevens of United States Agency for International Development, etc attend the seminar. The seminar converged nearly 180 attendees such as relevant leading experts in the field of urban studies, government officials and scholars mainly coming from three counties including China, US and India. 

    The main purpose of the seminar is sharing information of infrastructure transformation in China, US and India, so that the furture transformation of cities will be smart, healthy and sustainable. The main content of the seminar included city case study of China, US and India, the feedback of each country’s government officials and seeking the solution to the problems. In the case of economic competition and technological innovation, international experts, policymakers and academics from each country seeked for methods to solve air pollution, energy security and clean energy in the future. In the process of the seminar, the participants had a positive thinking and a heated discussion, expecting multidisciplinary cooperation and crossover study can provide professional reference for policymaking of relevant government departments.
